Labour speaks out about cuts to Kent & Canteburys urgent care

Campaigners  staged a protest against the ‘burying’ of Kent and Canterbury’s urgent care centre with a mock coffin on Friday. Around 50 people, including Labour party county councillors, joined the action outside County Hall in Maidstone, ahead of a meeting by Kent County Council’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Mike Bland, of the Canterbury Labour Party said there was a ‘hole in the health and social care budgets that could not be fixed by cuts’. “What Kent people want now is proper funding for the NHS and an immediate injection of additional money from central government into the council’s social care services.”
