This year Whitstable Labour Party will be organising four public debates as part of an innovative campaign to raise political engagement in a non partisan way. The first of our debates will focus on Education in Kent – Do we really have a choice?

People are invited to send in their questions in advance or put them to a panel of experts on the day. The panel represented a range of different views expressed by Joanne Bartley, a parent who campaigns on educational issues (chair of Kent Education Network), Joanna Williams, an educational writer (editor of Spiked-Online), Phil Karnavas, a  headteacher from the Canterbury Academy and Tim Luckhurst, school governor, journalist and academic. The panel was chaired by John Wightman, dean of the Faculty of Social Science, University of Kent.

Look out for the next debate in the autumn, probably on the topic of Housing.
