Labour Councillor for Barton Ward

Biography

Connie left school at 16 and studied business on a part-time basis. She is now a Senior Lecturer at Christ Church University in Management and Corporate Strategy, a Programme Director and University Governor

She is a committed Trade Unionist and member of the University and Colleges Union (UCU), on whose behalf she has held various positions including Branch Deputy Chair in 2013-15, and Chair from 2015-2017. .

In 2016, the UCU had 3 National Pay Strikes, where Connie organised pickets and activities. She was elected as a University Governor in 2017, and have serves as the Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Champion on the Governing body. She is proud to have persuaded the University’s Senior Management Team to support and sponsor 2018 Canterbury Pride.

She was elected to Canterbury City Council in 2019 as a representative for Barton with Pat Edwards and Dave Wilson.

Connie serves on the Canterbury Forum, Planning Committee, Appointments Sub Committee and Decision Review Committee in addition to full Council.
