Are you tired of constant roadworks which pop up out of nowhere for no apparent reason?
As the law currently stands, utility companies can close roads without notice to carry out “emergency works” (including for broadband(!)). This can wreak havoc, with a lack of coordination between companies and the council, and a lack of resources to tackle non-compliance with permits.
Labour’s alternative budget for Kent County Council would employ an extra member of staff to help to ensure roadworks by private companies are compliant. This is another example of Labour’s plans to spend your money wisely to improve our county’s roads.
In the longer term, Parliament’s Transport Committee is investigating the issue, looking at the processes used for the notification of works, as well as the impact all these works have on road surface quality. ... See MoreSee Less
